Originally discovered in Maine, Clearwater is a round tuber with no knobs. Clearwater has the most un-sunchoke like flavor compared to other named selections It is very mild with no piney aftertaste. Clearwater's smooth round shape makes it the most potato like in appearance of the sunchokes. The tall plants reach over 12 ft. tall with large trusses of large flowers. The tuber yields are good and the plant doesn't produce long runners leading it a spreading less than other varieties.
